Report: Jurgen Klopp contacts Ousmane Dembele over Liverpool switch

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly faces a battle with former club Borussia Dortmund to sign 18-year-old Rennes forward Ousmane Dembele.

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly spoken to Ousmane Dembele and wants to bring the teenage Rennes forward to Liverpool in a deal that could be worth almost £28m.

Dembele, 18, has impressed in his debut Ligue 1 season, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances for Rennes to attract interest from top clubs across Europe.

Liverpool are reportedly in the race to sign the France Under-21 international, but Klopp could face competition from his former club Borussia Dortmund, whom Dembele hinted that he was interested in joining earlier this month.

According to The Guardian, Klopp and Dembele have held discussions this week and the latter was impressed with what he heard about the Reds.
