Liverpool are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Sunderland for the capture of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool are reportedly edging closer to completing the signing of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.

The Merseyside outfit have been linked with the shot-stopper ever since reports emerged that Pepe Reina could be on his way to Barcelona.

The Spanish champions are thought to be searching for a replacement following Victor Valdes's claims that he will not sign a new contract at Camp Nou.

It is understood that the Reds have offered £8m, which is £2m shy of the asking price for Mignolet, but an agreement is expected to be reached in the next few days, according to BBC Sport.

Mignolet has made 101 appearances for the Black Cats since 2010.
