Brentford reportedly set their asking price for forward Bryan Mbeumo amid interest from Premier League giants Liverpool.

Liverpool have reportedly been told that they will need to pay £50m to sign Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

The Reds are looking to bring in reinforcements ahead of Arne Slot's first season in charge of the Merseyside club.

Liverpool are seemingly keen to strengthen their attacking options, especially with uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah's long-term future with the club.

The 31-year-old continued to attract interest from the Saudi Pro League, with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

Although Salah has indicated that he will stay this summer, Liverpool are seemingly keen to bring in a ready-made replacement to prepare themselves for the Egyptian's eventual departure.

Brentford inform Liverpool of Mbeumo asking price

Brentford's Mbeumo has been one of the names linked with a move to Anfield after opening the door to a potential exit.

According to HITC, Liverpool have been made aware that they will need to splash out £50m to sign the Cameroonian this summer.

Mbeumo still has two years left to run on his contract, giving Brentford the platform to set a significant asking price.

Should the Reds step up their pursuit, they could face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Mbeumo ready to take next step

The Cameroon international is seemingly ready for a fresh challenge after spending the last six years with Thomas Frank's side.

Mbeumo was part of the Brentford side that won promotion via the Championship playoffs in 2020-21, before he helped the club achieve a top-half finish in their second season in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old saw his 2023-24 campaign disrupted by injury, but he still managed to offer a meaningful contribution, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in 25 top-flight matches.

Despite being a key part of Brentford's squad, Mbeumo is likely to be tempted by the chance to move to a club that can challenge for silverware and offer European football.
