Liverpool are reportedly preparing to allow Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave on a free transfer next summer after opting against renewing his current contract.

Liverpool have reportedly opted against offering Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new contract.

After joining the Reds from Arsenal five years ago, Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled with injuries throughout his Liverpool career, which has hindered his ability to nail down a starting spot.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is yet to feature this term due to a hamstring problem, and the recurring injury issues appear to have played a factor in Liverpool's stance on the player's contract situation.

According to Football Insider, the Reds are not expected to offer the 29-year-old an extension on his current deal, which is set to expire next summer.

The midfielder does feature in Jurgen Klopp's plans beyond the current season, although a cut-price sale in January is unlikely.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has won five trophies with Liverpool, has scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists in 133 appearances for the club.
