Liverpool's proposed move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is allegedly put on hold amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Liverpool's proposed move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has allegedly been put on hold amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 24-year-old has been persistently linked with a switch to Anfield following an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga, registering 21 goals from 25 league outings.

However, the outbreak of COVID-19 has had unprecedented implications on the sporting world, with transfer dealings being thrown up in the air as a result of the crisis.

According to the Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp's side have put all transfer and contract talks on hold due to uncertainty over the pandemic.

The report claims that the Reds will make no attempt to revamp their squad until the situation improves, and all playing staff will also be forced to wait for negotiations over new deals.

Werner's current deal with Leipzig is set to expire at the end of the 2022-23 season.
