Newcastle United have reportedly entered the race for Gremio striker Luan, and are allegedly the front runners for his signature.
The Sun says that Magpies manager Rafael Benitez has been offered the 24-year-old amid reported interest from Liverpool.
The newspaper adds that Newcastle could beat their Premier League counterparts to the signing and secure the Brazilian's services for £17.5m.
Newcastle are allegedly pressing on with a Luan deal after they were rebuffed by Feyenoord for striker Nicolai Jorgensen, for whom the North East side made a bid last week.
The source also says that, should a Luan deal fail to materialise, Newcastle will turn to Watford's Troy Deeney, whose future at Vicarage Road is uncertain.
