Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly attempting to hijack Liverpool's proposed move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
With the former Barcelona man keen to take on a new challenge after spending seven years with the Bavarian giants, Liverpool have been strongly linked with a swoop for Thiago as of late.
The Spain international is expected to be available for a reasonable figure with his contract at Bayern expiring next summer, but Liverpool will reportedly have to offload at least one player if they are to secure Thiago's signature.
As a result, PSG are believed to be primed and ready to steal a march in the race for Thiago, and Le 10 Sport claims that the Ligue 1 champions have tabled an offer of €30m (£27m) for the 29-year-old.
The report claims that Liverpool wanted to paying Bayern's asking price in installments instead of an upfront fee, which has led to negotiations dragging out for longer than the two parties had originally hoped.
Thiago has turned out 36 times for Bayern across all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign, with the Bundesliga champions set to welcome Chelsea to the Allianz Arena for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Saturday.
