Nottingham Forest announce that they agreed a new long-term contract with one of their key players, a further boost to their 2024-25 campaign.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have agreed a new long-term contract with Murillo.

The East Midlands outfit are currently enjoying an unforgettable Premier League campaign, sitting in third position in the standings less than a year after only narrowly avoiding relegation.

However, despite European football emerging as a realistic possibility, club officials have needed to be hard at work with some key men seeing their deals expire at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, rather than developments with the likes of Ola Aina and Chris Wood, Forest has instead revealed that they have agreed fresh terms with Brazilian star Murillo.

A new deal that runs until 2029 has been penned by the 22-year-old, who has been a revelation since arriving at the City Ground from Corinthians in August 2023.

"We dream big"

As many as 57 appearances have been made by Murillo in all competitions, becoming a mainstay in Nuno Espirito Santo's back four, and the player has admitted that he is grateful to extend his stay.

He told the club's official website: "I'm very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I'm thankful to everyone for the support – not just to me, but to my family as well.

"Everywhere I go, every shop, wherever it is, they treat my family and I really well. So, I'm very grateful for everything they do for myself and for the team. I'm sure that we've got a big future in front of us."

Owner Evangelos Marinakis added: "We dream big, and so does he. He believes in the power of what we are doing at this great club.

"When we share the same bold ambitions, there is no limit to what we can achieve together."

What next for Forest?

Holding a six-point advantage over sixth-placed Newcastle United, Forest's full focus is on edging nearer to securing some form of European football.

On Saturday, a trip to Bournemouth, who are seventh, lies ahead in what will be a further test of their credentials to last the pace.

Away from the pitch though, the likes of Aina, Wood, Neco Williams and Callum Hudson-Odoi all have less than 18 months remaining on their contracts.

Although they will be eager for no distractions, Forest would be best served finalising new deals for that quartet to prolong the feel-good factor at the club.
