Report: Liverpool chasing Burnley's Ings
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers reportedly wants to sign prolific Burnley striker Danny Ings in January, as backup for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers apparently wants to sign Burnley marksman Danny Ings as forward cover for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

The Reds pair have scored 18 Premier League goals between them this season, but an injury to Sturridge, who is expected to be sidelined for two months, has exposed Liverpool's lack of depth up front.

Rodgers is keen to add to his strike options in January, and The Mirror claims that England Under-21 international Ings, who has found the net 15 times in 20 games this term, is top of his shortlist.

The 21-year-old would not be a first-term regular at Anfield, but could still be persuaded to join the Merseysiders, if they can meet what is likely to be a steep valuation of him by high-flying Burnley.

The Clarets are third in the Championship and believe that Ings can fire them back to the lucrative realms of the top flight for the first time since 2010, so are only likely to sell him for a substantial fee.
