Report: Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool target Marcelo

A report claims that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both interested in signing Real Madrid defender Marcelo.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid defender Marcelo this summer.

The left-back, who is currently with the Brazil squad at the World Cup, lost his starting spot in the Los Blancos XI to Fabio Coentrao last season following a series of injuries.

The 27-year-old remains a key figure for Madrid, but according to the Daily Star, Marcelo will be allowed to leave this summer if an offer of £25m is received.

With that in mind, Spurs and Liverpool are both believed to be monitoring developments with a view to making their interest official following the completion of the World Cup.

Marcelo has been with Madrid since 2007.
