Brad Smith joins Bournemouth from Liverpool

Australian full-back Brad Smith joins Bournemouth from Liverpool on a four-year contract.

Full-back Brad Smith has joined Bournemouth from Liverpool on a four-year contract.

The 22-year-old, who is a nine-time Australian international, joined Liverpool in 2008 and departs the Merseyside club having made 11 appearances in all competitions, 10 of which came last term.

Bournemouth have listed the transfer figure as "undisclosed", but it is thought that Eddie Howe's side have parted with a figure in the region of £6m to bring the defender to the Vitality Stadium.

"I am delighted to confirm that we have completed a deal to bring Brad to the football club. Brad broke through at Anfield last season and impressed whenever he was called upon," Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club's official website.

"He is another excellent young player that we believe can progress under Eddie and Jason's guidance, but he also brings with him experience of playing at the highest level in both the Premier League and on the international stage with the Socceroos. It is an exciting time for us as we bring yet another promising prospect into our progressive squad."

Smith has become Bournemouth's sixth summer signing and the second player to arrive from Liverpool in this transfer window following the acquisition of Jordon Ibe earlier this month.
