Luis Suarez "very happy" with Liverpool return

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez declares that he is "very happy" with a return to first-team action after reporting for international duty with Uruguay.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has declared that he is "very happy" with his form after returning from suspension to help the Reds maintain their strong start to the season.

Suarez has scored three goals in two games since ending a 10-match spell on the sidelines through suspension, with his latest strike helping Liverpool earn a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

The Uruguay international now wants to take that form into a crucial World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on Friday, with an automatic place in next summer's South American showpiece on the line.

He told reporters after reporting for international duty: "I feel very happy because I have returned to play at the club and that helps.

"Playing in Quito is difficult and we are aware that they have a a lot at stake. We cannot be complacent, we are realistic. We have been winning and doing things right, but we cannot rely on anything.

"A couple of months ago we were resigned to the play-offs, now all we want, based on the good results, is qualifying outright. We know we have the team to push through qualifying to reach the World Cup."

The 26-year-old's goals have helped the Reds climb to second in the Premier League, level on points with table-toppers Arsenal.
