Alexandre Lacazette helps Lyon hammer Nice

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette scores twice as Remi Garde's side start the new Ligue 1 campaign with a 4-0 win over Nice.

Lyon have secured maximum points from their opening Ligue 1 match after easing to a 4-0 success at home to Nice.

Following Lisandro Lopez's recent departure from Lyon, coach Remi Garde gave Alexandre Lacazette a chance in attack and the forward wasted little time in repaying his manager's faith.

Lacazette broke the deadlock after 13 minutes, racing onto a pass from Clement Grenier before finding the target with a controlled finish.

Just after the interval Lyon extended their lead through captain Grenier, who glanced a header home after meeting a cross from Yoann Gourcuff.

After 60 minutes Lacazette put the result beyond doubt with his second goal of the match, with Gourcuff again instrumental as he caught Nice goalkeeper David Ospina off guard.

Gourcuff got his name on the scoresheet in stoppage time with a precise freekick, adding gloss to the scoreline in an impressive display from Garde's side.
