Mainz 05 see off Eintracht Braunschweig

Shinji Okazaki scores twice for Mainz 05 as they see off Eintracht Braunschweig.

Mainz 05 have produced a professional display at home to beat Eintracht Braunschweig in the Bundesliga.

It was a scrappy start to the game with both sides giving away a number of fouls, but Mainz settled after the opening five minutes and took the lead.

Junior Diaz found Shinji Okazaki on the corner of the box and he fired an effort into the top corner of the near post.

Okazaki could have doubled the advantage midway through the half, but rifled a shot from the other side of the box just over.

Braunschweig's main threat was Karim Bellarabi, but he was wasteful on a couple of opportunities in the first half, missing the target from outside the box on both occasions.

The visitors responded well after the break and had a couple of half-chances, but the decisive blow came in the 68th minute as Okazaki finished off a counter-attack from Nicolai Muller's cut-back.
