Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Young Boys.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could look to freshen things up when his side travel to Switzerland to face Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Citizens were pushed hard when defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 on Saturday, and they will face their city rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.

Guardiola has kept a relatively-settled starting XI for the most part this season, but that could change at the Wankdorf Stadium, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic, Nathan Ake and Matheus Nunes all itching for starts after being left out against Brighton.

Ederson was also surprisingly named among the substitutes for that victory at the Etihad Stadium, with Stefan Ortega handed a rare start in goal, but Guardiola insisted this was merely to rest Ederson after he arrived back late from international duty with Brazil. The 30-year-old should return to the starting lineup here.

Manuel Akanji will almost certainly retain his place in defence after being sent off for two bookable offences against Brighton, meaning that he will miss the Manchester derby through suspension. He will likely be partnered by Ruben Dias, who came off the bench late on to help shore things up against the Seagulls.

Bernardo Silva and John Stones are likely to be rested given that they only recently recovered from injury, while Julian Alvarez has had a heavy load in a slightly more withdrawn role than he has been used to during his burgeoning career, so he could also be spared.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Ake; Rodri, Kovacic; Foden, Nunes, Grealish; Haaland
