Manchester City will face either Urawa Red Diamonds or Club Leon in the semi-finals of the 2023 Club World Cup.

The Citizens have qualified for the Club World Cup for the first time in their history after celebrating Champions League glory last season, beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the final in June.

Pep Guardiola's side, who also won the Premier League and FA Cup to complete a historic treble in 2022-23, have automatically progressed to the semi-final stage of the Club World Cup along with the the eventual winners of the Copa Libertadores – one of Fluminense, Internacional, Boca Juniors or Palmeiras.

Alongside the eventual South American champions, Man City will compete against the Champions League winners of four different federations as well as the champions of this year's host nation Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia.

Man City have now discovered their semi-final opponents, who will be the winners of the second-round tie against Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds or Mexican debutants Club Leon.

Urawa Red Diamonds won their third AFC Champions League trophy last season and will be hoping to improve on their last performance at the Club World Cup when they were eliminated in the second round to Al-Jazira back in 2017.

Club Leon, meanwhile, have qualified for the Club World Cup for the first time in their history after winning their first-ever CONCACAF Champions League title last season.

On the other side of the draw, Al-Ittihad will face New Zealand outfit and OFC Champions League holders Auckland City in a first-round tie, with the winners to face Egyptian champions Al Ahly in the second round.

The victors of that second-round clash will then take on the eventual Copa Libertadores winners in the semi-finals.

The 20th edition of the Club World Cup is scheduled to take place between December 12 and December 22.
