Half-Time Report: Sergio Aguero goal cancels out Aleksandar Mitrovic opener

Goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic and Sergio Aguero ensure that Manchester City and Newcastle United go into half time level in their Premier League fixture.

Goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic and Sergio Aguero have ensured that Manchester City and Newcastle United go into half time level in their Premier League clash this afternoon.

The hosts started the game well, as Pablo Zabaleta found Aguero with an inviting cross, but the Argentina international's header struck Newcastle youngster Kevin Mbabu.

Newcastle took the lead against the run of play on 18 minutes, as Georginio Wijnaldum found Mitrovic, who headed past Joe Hart for his first United goal.

The visitors thought they had doubled their lead on 25 minutes as Mitrovic tapped in at the near post, but the goal was ruled out for offside, before the Serbian tested Hart with a fierce strike in the box.

Aguero came close to equalising for City, as the forward received the ball on the edge of the Newcastle penalty area before unleashing a left-footed strike, but his effort went narrowly wide.

City levelled the scores on 42 minutes, as Fernandinho knocked down a David Silva cross towards Aguero, who fired past Newcastle keeper Tim Krul from close range.
