Manchester City have returned to winning ways in the Premier League by claiming an emphatic 6-1 victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.

Sergio Aguero scored five goals and Kevin De Bruyne netted once as they completed a stunning comeback following Aleksandar Mitrovic's opener in the 18th minute.

Below, Sports Mole has rated each player out of 10 for their individual performances in today's match.

MANCHESTER CITY

Goal

Joe Hart: Fresh from his impressive performance in the Champions League in midweek, Hart made a crucial stop to deny Mitrovic from scoring a second goal in the first half. From that point on, City dominated and the England international was rarely called upon. (8/10)

Defence

Pablo Zabaleta: Had plenty of space to move forward and did so, but struggled early when Kevin Mbabu got away from him in the run-up to Mitrovic's goal. (6/10)

Nicolas Otamendi: Had a few shaky moments in the first half alongside Eliaquim Mangala, but had little to do when City were on the attack in the second half. (5/10)

Eliaquim Mangala: First game back following a spell on the sidelines with an injury, and he could have done better to prevent Mitrovic's goal. (5/10)

Aleksandar Kolarov: Had so much space when on the attack and almost every cross that he whipped into the box found its target. (7/10)

Midfield

Fernandinho: Managed to nick the ball off Newcastle a few times and broke up play in the middle of the park. Had less and less to do as the game went on. (7/10)

Fernando: Was not at his best when Newcastle had their decent spell in the first half as he failed to provide strong cover for the defenders. (5/10)

David Silva: Would have been a worthy man-of-the-match winner had Aguero not scored five goals as he completely controlled the game in the second half. The Spaniard played a pivotal role in City's comeback. (9/10)

Raheem Sterling: Limped off the field in the first half and did not return after the break. Showed pace in the final third, but did not manage to do much damage with it. Daryl Janmaat got the better of him a few times. (5/10)

Kevin De Bruyne: Showed great technique to score a fantastic volley in the second half. Looked dangerous in attack, particularly in the second half. (9/10)

Attack

Sergio Aguero: A game to remember for the Argentine as he scored five goals, four of which came inside 13 minutes. Showed great desire and quality when on the ball. A constant threat and proved that he is back to his best. (10/10)

Substitutes

Jesus Navas: Replaced Sterling at the break and showed devastating pace when trying to get City back in the game early in the second half. Made an assist for De Bruyne's goal. (8/10)

Wilfried Bony: Had two great chances to score after replacing Aguero, but missed the target both times. (6/10)

Kelechi Iheanacho: Almost scored with his first touch since coming in in the last 15 minutes of the game, but his effort was saved by Tim Krul. (6/10)

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Goal

Tim Krul: It's never a great afternoon for a goalkeeper when they concede six, even if most of the shots he let in were of the highest quality. (3/10)

Defence

Kevin Mbabu: Impressed in the first half and showed attacking intent in the run-up to Mitrovic's goal, but fell away in the second half. (4/10)

Daryl Janmaat: Kept Sterling quiet in the first half and put in some decent blocks, but seemed to give up with his teammates during the City onslaught. (4/10)

Fabricio Coloccini: Committed himself to make clearances and decent blocks, but went missing in the second half. (4/10)

Chancel Mbemba: Put in a strong performance in the first half, but fell away after Aguero scored the equaliser. (4/10)

Midfield

Yoan Gouffran: Came into the starting lineup as a replacement for Jack Colback, and showed his pace in the first half, but did not contribute to an awful lot. (5/10)

Vurnon Anita: Came close to getting sent off in the first half following a challenge on Fernandinho, but escaped with a caution. (4/10)

Moussa Sissoko: Dominated the midfield when Newcastle were on the attack in spells during the first half, but became a bit of a passenger in the second half. (5/10)

Georginio Wijnaldum: Linked up well with Mitrovic and played a part in the striker's goal, but could not change the course of the game once City got on top. (5/10)

Attack

Aleksandar Mitrovic: Scored inside the first 18 minutes and looked dangerous in the early stages of the game, but was rarely used in the second half as Newcastle were on the backfoot. (6/10)

Ayoze Perez: Much like Mitrovic, he was isolated in the second half. Showed nice footwork early on, but had to defend with his team as the game progressed. (6/10)

Substitutes

Jamaal Lascelles: Replaced Mbabu when City were 4-1 up, but had little chance to make an impact. (4/10)

Florain Thauvin: Newcastle were already 6-1 down when Thauvin entered the field of play, and could only help the team in damage control. (4/10)

Cheick Tiote: Came on alongside Thauvin, but had little impact. (4/10)
