Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph has been stretchered off the field of play 18 minutes into his debut.
The England international, who performed a dramatic U-turn to join the Citizens last week, appeared to pull his hamstring at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Manuel Pellegrini handed the 25-year-old his first start for the International Champions Cup friendly meeting with Real Madrid, but disaster struck when Delph jarred his leg following a challenge with Luka Modric.
Jesus Navas was brought on in Delph's place, with City level against European giants Madrid at the time, but Los Blancos have since raced into a two-goal lead.
