Pep Guardiola: 'Sergio Aguero fitness improving every day'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that Sergio Aguero is feeling better each day as he closes in on his first appearance since being involved in a car crash.

Pep Guardiola has hinted that Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could make his return to action against Napoli after taking part in "an amazing training session" on Sunday.

The Argentina international was forced to sit out the Citizens' 1-0 win over Chelsea prior to the international break, two days after being involved in a car crash in Amsterdam.

Aguero was initially feared to be out for around six weeks, but he was an unused sub against Stoke City at the weekend and may now play a part in the Champions League tie with Napoli on Tuesday night.

"Day by day he is much, much better," Guardiola told reporters. "Yesterday he made an amazing training session. The day before Stoke, he was good but not perfect. He was much better."

Aguero, who broke his rib in the accident, has seven goals in eight appearances to his name so far in the 2017-18 campaign.
