Gabriel Jesus in no rush to extend Manchester City contract

Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus insists that he is no rush to open negotiations with Manchester City over a contract extension.

Gabriel Jesus has claimed that he is no rush to open negotiations with Manchester City over a contract extension.

The Brazil international, who joined City in a deal worth £27m from Palmeiras in 2017, has three years remaining on his current deal.

City boss Pep Guardiola is believed to be keen on extending Jesus's deal beyond 2021, boosting his wages to £90,000 a week in the process.

However, the 21-year-old has stalled on fresh terms to concentrate on finishing the season strongly and spearheading his nation at the World Cup in Russia.

"The new contract offer was something that came from the club, but I didn't think it was the right time to speak about it because we had big games still to play," Jesus is quoted by The Sun as saying.

"I decided I couldn't think about it at that time because it wasn't where my mind was at.

"Now, at the end of the season, I have still got a long time ahead of me, so I still don't want to think about it.

"When the time comes to talk about it, we will talk about it. I am extremely happy here, with my personal life and my achievements."

Jesus has made 49 appearances for City, scoring 22 goals and registering 10 assists.
