Vicent Kompany: 'We're not getting carried away after Chelsea scalp'

Vincent Kompany calls for perspective after Man City thumped Premier League champions Chelsea to move five points clear of the Blues early on in the 2015-16 season.

Vincent Kompany has told his Manchester City teammates not to get carried away by their 3-0 victory over Premier League champions Chelsea at Eastlands this evening.

Manuel Pellegrini's side flashed their title credentials with an early statement as Sergio Aguero, Kompany and Fernandinho humbled the West Londoners at the Etihad.

Victory has given the 2014 champions a five-point lead over Chelsea, but the Belgian captain is refusing to read into the significance of that early advantage.

"There actually wasn't much difference to how we played against Chelsea twice last season, but this time we managed to score and not make the same mistakes," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was a comfortable game. To start the way we did today is definitely the right signal but there's still a lot to come."

The Sky Blues travel to Merseyside to face Everton next Sunday.
