Manchester City assistant coach David Platt has revealed that manager Roberto Mancini was not prepared to talk to the media in the wake of his side's 1-1 draw with Stoke City because he was "a bit hot".

The Citizens had to settle for point after Yaya Toure had cancelled out Peter Crouch's second-half wonder strike.

Platt was on interview duty after the game and the 45-year-old explained that Mancini was unwilling to talk as he feared that his words might land him in trouble.

"It's not a case of being too angry, he's just wary that he might say something that gets him in hot water," said Platt.

"It's about the way the game unfolded. It is very difficult when you come here and sometimes you look for a bit of protection.

"It's a bit hot afterwards but once he's calmed down he'll be fine. You know what he is like and if he comes in and something goes out where it is lost in translation."

Mancini also reportedly refused to shake the hand of Potters boss Tony Pulis after the game.
