Manuel Pellegrini says that he has not agreed a deal to become the next Manchester City manager.

Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has denied speculation that he has agreed to become the new manager of Manchester City.

The Chilean has been linked with taking over at the Etihad Stadium after rumours gathered pace that current boss Roberto Mancini is close to being sacked by the club's owners.

However, Pellegrini has insisted that there is no deal in place for him to join any club at the moment.

"Today, I deny I am going to be the new manager of Manchester City," said Pellegrini. "I have not signed an agreement with anyone, not with Manchester City, not with Roma, not with Napoli, not with PSG, not with any of the clubs who have been mentioned.

"Every year I have had the possibility of major teams making an offer to me and that is an honour. I had a date agreed with Malaga not to talk to anyone and I have no agreement with anyone.

"In the next few days I hope to clarify a bit what the future will be here in the club."

Pellegrini previously managed Real Madrid in 2009-10.
