Bacary Sagna: 'Manchester City must make up for last season'

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna says that the club must make up for a poor showing last season by continuing their unbeaten start to the current campaign.

Bacary Sagna has said that Manchester City must atone for last season's poor title defence by continuing their unbeaten run in the current Premier League campaign.

The Citizens, who won the title in 2013-14, finished eight points behind current champions Chelsea last season.

"The manager didn't have to say anything, we knew we didn't deliver and had a bad season," the 32-year-old admitted to Sky Sports News about City's overall 2014-15 performance.

"We had a long season last season and it did not go as we expected because we got knocked out of the competitions quite quickly. Now we want to dictate the game and we want to change the pace of the team to change the pace of the game.

"When we have the chance to impose ourselves on our opponents we try and show them we are better. That has led us to first position today. We've managed to win five games out of five so now we want to keep that going."

Manuel Pellegrini's side welcome West Ham United to the Etihad in Saturday's late kickoff.
