Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has admitted that he was motivated to perform well against Manchester City in Chicago.
Sancho left City for Dortmund last summer after failing to secure an immediate breakthrough into the first-team squad, and the young Englishman went on to make 12 outings in the Bundesliga last season.
The teenager featured as Dortmund registered a 1-0 win over City in a pre-season friendly on Friday night, and the attacker has acknowledged that he had "a point to prove".
The 18-year-old told Sky in Germany: "It was nice to see my old teammates. I am happy we won and happy to play against my old club. I had a point to prove and I think I did well in the game. Hopefully it carries on through the season.
"I am very motivated for the season and very excited because we have a special team and I am very grateful for that."
Sancho has two years left on his contract at Dortmund, but the German outfit have the option of extending that deal.
