Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta insists that he feels comfortable playing as part of a three-man defence.

Pablo Zabaleta has insisted that he is happy to form part of a three-man defence for Manchester City this season.

City boss Roberto Mancini has trialled the new tactic throughout pre-season, including during yesterday's 3-2 win in the Community Shield over Chelsea.

When asked by reporters about the new style, Zabaleta feels that it gives the team more options.

"It is another system and another option the manager has," said the 27-year-old.

"We have been working with three at the back in pre-season and it worked well."

The Citizens begin the defence of their Premier League title on Sunday against Southampton.
