How Manchester City could line up against Southampton

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City welcome Southampton to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday for the second time in just five days.

Pep Guardiola's men made it four wins from four since the recent international break in Tuesday's EFL Cup match, extending Saints' winless run to five games in the process.

Although we are only ten games into the season, there is already pressure on City not to drop points as they look to keep pace with rivals Liverpool at the top of the table.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Citizens could line up for Saturday's showdown.

Guardiola is likely to ring the changes for Saturday's game after making a number of alterations in midweek.

One of the Spaniard's main decisions will come in defence. Nicolas Otamendi was highly impressive in midweek, which could see him keep his place for Saturday's game, although Fernandinho is now back after serving his one-game suspension following his dismissal against Aston Villa.

Kyle Walker is likely to be preferred to Joao Cancelo at right-back, while Bernard Mendy could be set for a rare start at left-back now that he is fully fit again.

In midfield, creative stars Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are expected to be recalled to partner the more defensive Ilkay Gundogan in a balanced triumvirate in the middle of the park.

Sergio Aguero grabbed a brace against the Saints on Tuesday and the Argentine is likely to get the nod ahead of Gabriel Jesus with City also preparing for their trip to Bergamo to face Atalanta in the Champions League.

Out wide, Raheem Sterling is expected to get a recall on the left, with Portuguese international Bernardo Silva the favourite to start on the right.
