Gareth Barry impressed by Roberto Martinez

Gareth Barry reveals that the opportunity to work under Roberto Martinez was a major factor in his loan move from Manchester City to Everton on deadline day.

Gareth Barry has revealed that the chance to work under Roberto Martinez was a big factor in his loan move from Manchester City to Everton.

The 32-year-old midfielder signed a season-long deal with the Toffees on transfer deadline day.

"The way I've seen his teams play over the years as soon as he got his first management job in English football he's always tried to play the right style of football," Sky Sports News quotes Barry as saying.

"He's made it difficult for the teams playing against him and the way he had plans to fit me into the squad was very encouraging - the manger had a big part to play."

Barry joined Man City from Aston Villa in 2009.
