Executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Bayern Munich remain keen on trying to sign Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

Executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that Bayern Munich remain 'in charge' of any pursuit for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.

After a three-year spell at the Etihad Stadium which has brought 39 goals from 133 appearances, Sane has been linked with a summer switch to the Bundesliga champions.

City have allegedly placed a £90m price-tag on the 23-year-old, who has just two years remaining on his contract at the Premier League champions.

However, Rummenigge has stressed that Bayern are still monitoring the situation as they look to find replacement for Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Rummenigge is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "The state of things with Sane is that he will return from his holidays this week. While on his vacation he didn't want to have any talks and wanted to think about his personal plans on his future.

"We have to wait to see if something will happen. It is no secret that we are searching for a winger after [long-time stars] Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben left the club — two players that shaped the face of FC Bayern for many years.

"We are in charge and have to wait on how things will develop."

City are yet to make progress in contract negotiations with the attacker.
