Lack of new Manchester City deal disappoints Gareth Barry

Gareth Barry reveals his unhappiness at the fact that Manchester City have made no effort to extend his contract.

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has conceded that he is "disappointed" not to have been offered a new contract by the club.

The 32-year-old has just 12 months left to run on his current deal, which would mean that next summer he could walk away from the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer.

"I haven't heard anything about a new deal from the club, so as it stands it looks as though my contract will run out next summer," The People quotes him as saying.

"I'm a bit disappointed that there has been no offer, but I haven't got myself too down about it.

"I've done what I've always done and worked hard during pre-season in the hope that I can do enough."

Barry has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal.
