Real Madrid are reportedly refusing to admit defeat in their attempts to sign Manchester City winger David Silva.
It had been reported that the 26-year-old was ready to sign a new five-year contract with City, but Madrid have refused to drop their interest.
According to The Mirror, the La Liga champions are preparing a £35m bid, with a club source admitting that the Spaniard is a target of Madrid's.
The source revealed: "Jose [Mourinho] has convinced the club that Silva is the man they need to bring the 10th. More importantly, he now believes that David has changed his mind and decided he will not renew his contract at City. That is why the bid will go in."
Madrid are also expected to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric.
