Napoli 'want Mario Balotelli, Edinson Cavani to link up'

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says that he would "prefer" Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli to play alongside Edinson Cavani at the San Paolo.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has hinted that the Italian club may be interested in signing Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli.

The 22-year-old has been linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium following a number of controversial incidents while with the Premier League champions and De Laurentiis has revealed that he would "prefer" the Italy international to move to Napoli and link up with star forward Edinson Cavani.

"City are considering letting Balotelli go so they can move for Cavani?" De Laurentiis told Gazzetta.it. "I would prefer to see Balotelli playing with Cavani here at Napoli. Teams tend to hold onto their best players in January. You take a big risk making big investments now."

City manager Roberto Mancini recently reiterated that he has no intentions to sell Balotelli.
