Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill is reportedly plotting a move to sign Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott.
The 30-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium in recent weeks and has not started any of the club's last five Premier League matches.
Lescott could be available on a short-term basis during the January transfer window and, according to The People, O'Neill is keen to land the centre-back on a loan deal until the end of the season.
City, who have conceded 17 goals in 20 games this season, have the third tightest defence in the Premier League.
