Joleon Lescott is reportedly open to a loan move back to former club Everton after falling out of favour at Manchester City.

Joleon Lescott could make a shock return to Everton if he fails to regain his place in Manchester City's first team, according to reports.

The England defender has slipped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, with Vincent Kompany, Kolo Toure and Matija Nastasic all seemingly preferred to him.

The Guardian reports that a loan move would suit the 30-year-old as he attempts to maintain his England place.

Lescott left Everton in 2009 for £24m, and despite David Moyes being angry at the time, it's the Toffees who lead his list of suitors.

It remains to be seen whether City will allow him to depart though, with Kolo Toure leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
