Half-Time Report: Manchester United goalless with CFR Cluj

Manchester United are held to a goalless draw in the opening half of this evening's Champions League clash with CFR Cluj at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been held to a goalless draw in the opening half of this evening's Champions League clash with CFR Cluj at Old Trafford.

Cluj had a chance early on when Phil Jones deflected Rafael Bastos's effort towards goal, but David de Gea was able to scramble the ball away.

Nick Powell had United's first decent opportunity when he was teed up by Danny Welbeck on 20 minutes, though he could only slice his shot.

Scott Wootton came to the home side's rescue soon after when he heroically blocked Modou Sougou's drive.

Both teams showed plenty of adventure as Tom Cleverley and Sougou both squandered opportunities.

However, United should have gone in ahead at the break as Wayne Rooney saw his chip tipped over by Mario Felgueiras before Chris Smalling somehow headed wide from close range.
