Phil Jones admits that Galatasaray's goal was a defensive lapse from Manchester United.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has admitted that his team suffered from a defensive lapse in the 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray on Tuesday night.

Jones, who made his first start after a long absence with injury, was rueful of his teammates' defending at the set-piece which led to the Turkish side's goal.

"We should have switched on and dealt with that ball," Sky Sports News quotes Jones as saying. "We got punished at a set-piece which is not our game. We shouldn't have done that.

"We need to look at the video and see where went wrong. We were a bit unfortunate not to take the lead - it wasn't our night."

Galatasaray are second in Group H, five points behind United.
