Jamie Redknapp says that he will be "amazed" if Wayne Rooney is still a Manchester United player next season.

Jamie Redknapp has said that he will be "amazed" if Wayne Rooney is still a Manchester United player next season.

The England international was named as a substitute in Tuesday night's Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid.

The striker was introduced from the bench in the second half and Redknapp feels that Sir Alex Ferguson's snub towards Rooney will spell the end of the Liverpudlian's career at Old Trafford.

"Wayne has two years left on his contract — and I'd be amazed if he's still at Old Trafford next season," Redknapp said in his column in the Daily Mail.

"I didn't really think Sir Alex Ferguson would leave out Wayne Rooney. I'm not sure how they repair their relationship now. This only goes one way now."

Rooney signed for United in 2004 from Everton.
