Result: Manchester United 2-0 Otelul Galati

Manchester United have won their second consecutive Champions League game with a 2-0 win at home to Otelul Galati.

Manchester United have gone top of Champions League Group C with a 2-0 victory at home to Otelul Galati.

The hosts took the lead after eight minutes when Antonio Valencia was on hand to turn the ball in from six yards after good work by Phil Jones.

There was bad news for United soon after, however, when Michael Owen was forced to come off with a suspected thigh injury.

After a comfortable first half, the Red Devils came close early on in the second when Dimitar Berbatov had his shot saved from close range after good work again from Jones.

The Bulgarian nearly scored soon after, but his shot was cleared off the line by Otelul defender Sergio Costin.

On a night of wastefulness in front of goal for United, Wayne Rooney sealed the win late on when his shot took a wicked deflection into the Otelul net.
