Predicted Manchester United XI vs. Manchester City - Romelu Lukaku in contention

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for their derby clash with Premier League leaders and champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Just four days after pulling off one of their most memorable results of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, Manchester United face arguably an even more daunting task on Sunday when they take on local rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Wednesday night's late comeback against Juventus will rank among their previous famous nights in Turin, and the Red Devils will no doubt garner belief and harness momentum from the shock victory heading into this match.

However, they face a City side that have once again raced to the top of the Premier League table and have scored six times in both of their last two matches.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jose Mourinho could line his side up against the champions.

Possible MNU XI vs. MNC

Out: Diogo Dalot (knock)
Doubtful: Romelu Lukaku (hamstring)

The big question mark ahead of Sunday's match surrounds the fitness of Romelu Lukaku, who Mourinho says will be in contention to feature if he comes through training unscathed on Friday and Saturday.

Even a fully-fit Lukaku is no longer a certain starter, though, having been dropped against Everton when he was last in United's squad.

Should the Belgian return then Alexis Sanchez could be pushed out wide ahead of Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford, while on the opposite flank Anthony Martial is almost certain to play having scored five goals in his last four Premier League games.

Ander Herrera's impact in United's last two matches - in addition to his ability to ruffle feathers in the middle of the park - could earn him a starting role alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic too.

Antonio Valencia is understood to be available having travelled to Turin in midweek, but he was left out of the matchday squad and is unlikely to be thrown straight back into the XI ahead of Ashley Young for such a big game.
