Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is a major doubt for Saturday's clash with Watford through illness.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is a major doubt for his team's next Premier League match against Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Scotland international was not involved against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, having come down with an illness ahead of the last-16 first leg.

Speaking to BT Sport ahead of the clash at Wanda Metropolitano, Man United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick said that the midfielder was also a doubt for Saturday's clash with Watford.

Fred featured alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in McTominay's absence, and the Red Devils were able to claim a positive result to take back to Old Trafford, with Anthony Elanga making it 1-1 in the latter stages of the contest after Joao Felix had broken the deadlock.

Man United will now be looking to make it three Premier League victories in a row when they welcomed relegation-threatened Watford to Old Trafford.

McTominay has been a key player for the 20-time English champions this term, making 29 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.
