A report claims that Manchester United and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku is facing a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury that he sustained last week.

Manchester United will reportedly be without injured striker Romelu Lukaku for this weekend's FA Cup quarter-final clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Lukaku has returned to form over the past few weeks with six goals in his last four matches, which likely would have led to him starting at Molineux.

According to The Sun, the 25-year-old is struggling with an ankle injury that he first picked up in the 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain last week.

United sent Lukaku for a scan and it was apparently confirmed that he is facing a spell on the sidelines, keeping him out of Saturday's trip to Wolves and Belgium's upcoming internationals against Russia and Cyprus.

The Red Devils are said to be hopeful that the ex-Chelsea ace, who missed a couple of good chances against Arsenal last weekend, will be back in time for next month's Champions League quarter-finals.

Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are also nursing injuries, though Anthony Martial is back in contention after shaking off an injury issue of his own.
