In terms of the team news, Solskjaer has made six changes from the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last week. James continues his run of starting every match since joining, while Wan-Bissaka is also once again involved from the off.
Incidentally, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's son Noah is among Kristiansund's subs and is expected to play a part in the second half. Rashford carries the ball into the box and tries to curl it into the far corner, but his effort is blocked.
Lingard stretches to keep the ball in play and appears to have pulled up. He is going to carry on for now but that is one for Solskjaer to keep an eye on - there is no need to take any risks.
United have dominated possession in the opening seven minutes. Their high pressing, something we have seen throughout pre-season, has been clear to see from the off. Rashford's blocked shot is all they have to show for it, though.
Republic of Ireland hopeful McDermott punts the ball out of play when put under pressure. United are knocking the ball around in the final third but have not really managed to get it into the box thus far.
Kristiansund turn over possession and Kalludra has space to run into. There is breakdown in communication, however, and the hosts are unable to work a shot, despite having a man over. United counter and James's cross is cut out.
Classic Phil Jones, this. The corner is not cleared and the centre-back tries, in his own awkward manner, to overhead kick the loose ball into the back of the net. It hits his hand and ends nowhere near the goal.
SHOT! This looked to be a shot from Lingard, rather than a cross, and it was not far off target. Home goalkeeper McDermott could not get to it but the ball did not have enough bend on it.
It has been a bright enough start from United, but they have not created a great deal. Rashford had a shot blocked, James saw his cross cut out when in behind and Lingard curled one wide a couple of minutes ago. Kristiansund are focusing on the counter.
Kristiansund have the best defensive record in the Norwegian top flight this term, and they have done well to restrict their opponents so far. The hosts have been on top over the past couple of minutes, in fact, though a couple of crosses into the box leads to nothing.
SHOT! Diop's shot from a long way out ends in the stands. This has been a good period for the Norwegian club.
McTominay is barged off the ball and Rashford wins the right to take the free kick. The shot from 25 yards out spins away from the far post - he probably should have put his boot through it.
SAVE! James, arguably United's best player during pre-season, again gets right in his opponent's face but there is no way through. The corner is worked short and Jones' glanced header from Lingard's cross hits Psyche and is collected by McDermott.
Lingard cannot quite bring Matic's fizzed pass under control. He manages to get a shot away but it loops over the crossbar.
The best aspect of United's display so far has been their ability to win the ball back. Martial produces a fine challenge to turn over possession, but Shaw cannot pick out a teammate from the left. The visitors are still awaiting their first big chance.
Shaw creates some space for himself down the left and plays the ball into the six-yard box with the outside of his boot. The cross is cut out in front of goal for another corner, which comes to little.
We have played nearly half an hour in Oslo and there has been no way through for Solskjaer's men. Remember, Kristiansund are the best defensive side in the Norwegian top flight, so it is perhaps not that surprising they have made life difficult for their opponents.
SAVE! Martial carries the ball to the edge of the 18-yard box and gets a shot away. McDermott gets down to his right to parry the ball to safety.
SHOT! James powers past his man down the right and lofts the ball into the six-yard box, where Coly is waiting to calmly tap the ball back to his keeper. Up the other end, Bye's shot from range is off target.
There have been plenty of promising moments for United so far, particularly in the wide areas, but there has been nothing clear-cut in front of goal. Martial's effort from 20 yards, saved by McDermott, is as close as they have come.
Rashford makes a good run through the middle but the long ball over the top from Lindelof runs through to McDermott. Kristiansund give the ball away moments later but Lingard is fouled 25 yards from goal before he can think about shooting.
SAVE! This is a great save from McDermott - the first proper stop he has had to make so far. Rashford takes the free kick that Lingard won and bends it through a gap in the wall, but McDermott readjusts his body to slap the ball to safety.
CLOSE! McTominay's shot from 30 yards dips over the crossbar. A minute later he is picked out in the box, turns and fizzes a shot across goal. McDermott did not need to make a save in the end as the effort was off target.
SAVE! McDermott is becoming increasingly more busy as this first half goes on. Lingard has a shot blocked on the edge of the box and Rashford takes over. The striker gets a low shot on target but McDermott makes the save with his legs.
SAVE! The opening goal is coming! James plays the ball to Rashford, who helps it on to Lingard, but his first-time shot is kept out by McDermott down the middle.
OFF THE POST! James feeds the ball into the feet of McTominay, who takes it past his man and strikes it cleanly from an angle. The ball comes off the post and Kristiansund survive another scare.
Shaw busts a gut to keep the ball in play down the left. The first-time delivery into the box is decent, too, but some good defending prevents Rashford from getting on the end of it. The hosts appear to have done enough to hold off United for now.
HALF TIME: KRISTIANSUND 0-0 MAN UNITED
The first half comes to an end in Oslo and the sides are locked at 0-0. There is no doubt that United had the better of things in the opening 45 minutes, but a mixture of good goalkeeping and some good defending kept them at bay.
Kristiansund boast the best defensive record in the Norwegian top flight and that showed in the first half as United failed to find a way through.
Jesse Lingard curled a shot wide, Phil Jones had a deflected header easily dealt with and Anthony Martial's long-ranger was parried to one side.
United grew more and more into the game as first half wore on, though, and if not for some fine goalkeeping from Sean McDermott they would have been ahead at the interval.
McDermott was equal to a couple of Marcus Rashford attempts, including a 25-yard free kick, and he also denied Martial from a promising position.
With the pressure building at the end of the first period, Scott McTominay fired a shot inches over the bar and then thumped his next attempt against the frame of the goal.
There was to be no way through for the Red Devils, though, and they now have 45 minutes to beat inspired Kristiansund goalkeeper McDermott.

KICKOFF: We are back underway at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo. Rashford's shot inside the opening 40 seconds is palmed to safety by half-time substitute Mbaye.
Amang is also on for Kastrati in the hosts' only other change from half time. Solskjaer has decided against making any subs, so we can surely expect mass changes come the hour mark. United have started the second half on top.
Kristiansund win a corner and the ball drops to Amang on the edge of the area, but his half-volley is well over the crossbar. Pogba has been sent to warm-up - we can surely expect to see him in the next 10 minutes or so.
CHANCE! What a huge, huge chance for Kristiansund to open the scoring - easily the best opportunity of the match at either end of the field! Sorli gets a march on his marker and has plenty of the goal to aim for, only to send his close-range header wide of the target. He had to score!
We are 10 minutes into the second half and the best opportunity of the match so far has fallen the hosts' way. Solskjaer will see this as a disappointing result if his side fail to find a way through in the remaining 35 minutes or so.
SAVE! Martial goes to ground in the box, but to be fair to him he did not appeal for a penalty - he appeared to simply lose his footing. James's shot from range is then straight at Mbaye - a save nonetheless.
SAVE! Rashford turns and makes good contact with his shot from 25 yards. The ball was heading for the top corner, if not for a good fingertip stop from Mbaye, who has been heavily involved during his 13 minutes on the field.
MAN UNITED SUBS! De Gea's evening is over - he is replaced by Romero with an hour played in Oslo. There appears to be six or seven others coming on, including Young, who will take over captaincy duties. We'll bring you up to speed with the changes in the next couple of minutes.
SAVE! Chong, one of those to come on a couple of minutes ago, is given the chance to carry the ball forward. The young midfielder gets to the edge of the box and decides to shoot, but the Kristiansund goalkeeper is again equal to it.
It was actually 11 changes made by Solskjaer, so it is all change. Thanks to the United Twitter team for making my life a little easier!
SHOT! The ball drops nicely for Greenwood to strike but his shot takes a deflection on its way through. United are surely going to score in the next few minutes - the pressure has been pretty relentless.
United are continuing to probe away but there is just no way through at the moment. Greenwood has been heavily involved since coming on but his attempted through-ball for fellow sub Fred is cut out.
The hosts are not really interested in attacking. They have had one opportunity all evening, though what a chance it was! United look good value for a goal that would maintain their winning run in pre-season.
The match has gone a little flat over the last few minutes, which does tend to happen when mass changes are made midway through the half. The Red Devils are in no danger of conceding but they could do with a goal.
It is easy to see why Kristiansund have such a good defensive record this term. So many times this evening their defenders have put their bodies on the line to cut out the ball or make a block. United win a corner and Tuanzebe glances wide.
Pogba thinks about the shot but instead tries to flick it through for Mata, to little success. Tuanzebe then has to track back to prevent the counter. This match has a good feel to it with 15 minutes to go - United are desperate to score.
Dalot's right-sided cross is right on the money but nobody in a red top can get on the end of it, and once again the ball is put behind for a corner. The corner is worked short, Dalot plays it to the back post and Tuanzebe heads over.
SHOT! Greenwood twists his man inside out and strikes the ball goalwards, but it hits the side-netting. Ever wonder if it might not be your day? United are running out of time to find a breakthrough goal.
SHOT! Fred's curler drifts inches wide of the far post - yet another near-miss for the Red Devils. Greenwood then links up with Mata on the edge of the box but cannot get a clean shot on target. One of these shots will surely end up in the net!
Chong has impressed during his time on the field. The youngster again drives into the box and gets another shot away, which Mbaye keeps out. Having passed up so many chances today, it is fair to say that United need to work on their finishing.
Pass, pass, pass for United but no way through. There are now just six minutes of normal time to play and it is looking as though their winning run is going to come to an end. The Red Devils have just one more friendly to play - a clash with AC Milan in Cardiff next weekend.
SAVE! Chong has lots of space in a left-sided position but, yet again, his powerful shot is kept out by Mbaye. That falls into the 'could have done better' category. Kristiansund have just brought on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's young son Noah - what an occasion for him and his father,
Pogba very nearly gets on the end of Mata's nicely-weighted pass but Williamson makes a vital interception. There was a small penalty shout but the referee waved away the appeals. There are now just two minutes of normal time to go.
SHOT! With the 90 minutes up, Pogba pulls the trigger from 22 yards. The ball drifts wide of the target with Mbaye happy to watch it all the way. Two minutes have been added on at the end. Kristiansund are almost over the line!
PENALTY! Pogba slots the ball through for Mata and the Spanish midfielder rounds substitute goalkeeper
Andreas Vaikla. Contact was made and a penalty is awarded in added time.
GOAL! KRISTIANSUND 0-1 MAN UNITED (JUAN MATA, PEN)
Mata sends Vaikla the wrong way to give United a lead in the final minute of play. Kristiansund will barely have a chance to respond.
FULL TIME: KRISTIANSUND 0-1 MAN UNITED
Man United make it five wins from five in pre-season thanks to Mata's last-gasp penalty. The Spanish midfielder rounded Kristiansund's substitute keeper to win a spot kick, which he successfully converted. The visitors had just 30 seconds or so to see through for what would have been a famous result, but it was not to be.
