Manchester United forward Anthony Martial: 'Family comes first'

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial says that "family comes first" after failing to return to the club's pre-season tour following the birth of his second child.

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has taken to social media after criticism regarding his failure to rejoin the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

Martial was given permission to return to Europe in order to attend the birth of his second child, but the France international did not make himself available for United's closing fixtures across the pond.

Manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that he was unhappy with the actions of Martial, while United have allegedly decided to fine the player for failing to maintain his fitness.

However, Martial has decided to acknowledge the situation, suggesting that he is comfortable with his decision to remain with his partner and child.

The 22-year-old said: "Thank you all for your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mom it was harder but thanks to God she's better now. Sorry but my family will always come first. Back tomorrow in Manchester."

Mourinho has said that he is unsure whether Martial will continue his career at Old Trafford.
