Thibaut Courtois: 'No added incentive to beat Manchester United'

Thibaut Courtois says that Chelsea vs. Manchester United is a "special" fixture, even without all the added hype this time around due to Jose Mourinho's return.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has insisted that Jose Mourinho will not be out for revenge when bringing his Manchester United side to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Belgium international was a key player under the Special One in his second coming in West London, being given the nod in goal as the Blues went all the way and lifted the Premier League title in 2014-15.

Despite Mourinho leaving under disappointing circumstances, with certain members of the squad accused of failing to give their all for the Portuguese in his final days at the club, Courtois is adamant that this weekend's fixture does not take on any added importance.

"I don't know if it is important for him. I don't think he has a revenge feeling in him," he told Sky Sports News. "And obviously if you want to do well with your current team you need to win your games and top games are part of it.

"So I think he wants to win as we want to win but I don't think that the players have a feeling towards him that they want to win because it's him. I just think players want to win because we play a top game against Manchester United and it's a special game anyway."

Mourinho's second spell at Chelsea lasted for just two-and-a-half seasons, with the Blues sitting one point above the relegation zone at its conclusion following a run of nine defeats in 16 games.
