Patrice Evra has insisted that every player in the Manchester United squad is at risk of falling out of favour at Old Trafford.
After a summer that saw Sir Alex Ferguson operate successfully in the transfer market, Evra claims that the competition for places is much higher than in previous seasons.
"I always say when you play for United every year if we don't win the title you feel like you haven't done your job," said the French defender. "That's why the boss this year will give no presents to anybody.
"If you don't play well you could quite easily not be playing. There are a lot of players and it's difficult for him to pick his 11 players.
"That's good. Maybe last year there wasn't big enough competition on every part of the pitch."
Evra recently hit out at critics after his form for United was called into question.
