Rio Ferdinand believes that Manchester United can clinch the title if there is enough trust within the team.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has said that his team will win the Premier League title if they can trust each other.

The Red Devils are closing in on their 20th title and are currently three points clear of rival Manchester City with eight games remaining.

Having already won five league titles at Old Trafford, the 33-year-old believes that the key to success is trust within the team.

"You've got to hold your nerve, but just as important as that, if not more important, is trusting each other," said the England international.

"You've got to trust in the fact that, if you're not going to create a chance, someone else is. Or if you're not going to put your head on the ball when it comes into the box or make that tackle, someone else is.

"That's the way you've got to be - the team that does that best between now and the end of the season will be the one to win the league."

Ferdinand joined Manchester United from Leeds United in 2002.
