Aaron Ramsey is 'the one that got away' from Sir Alex Ferguson

Wales assistant manager Osian Roberts says that Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey was 'the one that got away' from former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey was the 'one that got away' from Sir Alex Ferguson, according to Wales assistant manager Osian Roberts.

Roberts met the former Manchester United boss at a 2014 World Cup debrief last week and raised the subject of Ramsey, who the 72-year-old attempted to prise away from Cardiff City before the youngster chose the Gunners instead.

Whilst speaking with the Man Utd legend, Roberts revealed that Ferguson was keen to ask about the progress of the central midfielder.

"He had a strong interest in how Aaron is doing because he was very close to signing him," Roberts told The Mirror.

"He probably looks at it now as one that he lost out on and got away from him."

Ramsey has scored 19 goals in 132 appearances since his arrival at Arsenal in 2008.
