Sir Alex Ferguson against more technology

Sir Alex Ferguson says that bringing in more technology could prove a 'shambles' for football.

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned that football could become a 'shambles' if too much technology is introduced into the game.

The former Manchester United manager believes that goal-line technology has been beneficial, but bringing in additional technology could prove detrimental.

Speaking to New York radio station SiriusXM FC, Ferguson claimed that referring to decisions on free kicks, or yellow and red cards would slow down the game.

He said: "Technology will advance the game, I suppose, but you can't have too many things because then it takes a lot of power away from the referees at which case it becomes a bit of a shambles because the game is stop-start, stop-start and you cannot have that.

"Goal-line technology is fine. Let's just leave it there."

Ferguson's claims come after FA chairman Greg Dyke suggested that instant replays may be trialled during matches to assist referees.
