Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs hails his 13th title success as a "special" achievement after last night's 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has declared that winning his 13th Premier League title last night was made extra special by the manner of his side's success.

United secured a record 20th league championship with a 3-0 victory against Aston Villa, thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Robin van Persie.

Giggs has insisted that the 25th major honour of his United career means a great deal because the Red Devils managed to put the disappointment of last season's dramatic loss to Manchester City behind them so emphatically.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's obviously special. When you lose it in the manner that we did last year, to win it back is something special especially by putting on a show in the first half, Robin's goal, we did it in style.

"From Christmas onwards, we looked really good and once you got that platform of defence and when you have the flare players that we've got then you've always got a chance.

"I'm just enjoying it and as long as I'm enjoying it and contributing to the team then I'm going to carry on. It's nights like this that you're going to miss when you finish but it's nights like this also that drive you on."

The 39-year-old had made 27 appearances this season and scored five goals to continue his record of netting in every Premier League campaign to date.
